Between ourselves, honest voter, these private monopolies created by the pernicious system of permits, licences, quotas and controls (to be extended now even to foreign capital which voluntarily comes into the private sector) make the Congress Party's rich friends richer, and the poor poorer. It is a close conspiracy; we have a battle between money and liberty, between dharma and atheism, between freedom and communism clothed in Congress robes.
Any voter who may have a fancy to vote for the Swatantra Party had best be warned in time that Mr. 0. V. Alagesan and Mr. C. Subramaniam do not approve of the party, and have but a bad opinion both of the founder of the party and of the party itself. Nothing can be fairer than this warning - if you happen to like a political party that stands for the abolition of permits and controls distributed by the Congress bosses and think, therefore, of voting for the Swatantra Party, remember Mr. Alagesan and Mr. Subramanian are against the party and its founder. You are warned!
They are prepared to swallow the Russian planes, the Russian pilots and the Himalayas themselves, but they cannot digest Swatantra. Where will they be if Swatantra wins?
Rajaji is an old man past eighty, say they; he is queer, he does not fall in line with authority, he is in love with some old fashions, he is not up-to-date like us - say these young wise men. They would put the bar of wisdom somewhere around seventy, I suppose. If after this warning, you will vote for Swatantra, God bless you ! Cast your vote according to conscience.
